Question

..but boy do I dislike those smilies. Ugh.

    Anyway...

Ain't It Cool had that purported review of the initial script for X-Men 2. If it is to be believed (actually, I trust Moriarty...he's one of the few "names" on that site I can tolerate), then it looks like we'll be seeing a Kurt very similar to what happened in Ultimate X-Men. Which I'm perfectly OK with.

Nightcrawler shows up in this week's X-Factor #2. But you might have guessed that from the cover. He appears inside just about as much as Jean did in issue #1...actually, maybe a little less. Still, I'm very much enjoying this series.

ToyFare did a short blurb on the Hard Hero X-Men Evolution maquettes. I picked up Cyclops, and it is NICE! Storm and Prof X are up next, but they've apparently committed to releasing at least 12, with talks of more...no names mentioned of the future 9, but I'm guessing Nightcrawler and Mystique are shoe-ins.

Speaking of X-Ev...Day of Reckoning was INCREDIBLE! I won't go into much here, lest anyone still has yet to see it. But woo nelly. THAT'S how to end a season.

And while there's no Nightcrawler in the first HeroClix set, it's still a way-fun game.

Well, unless the report is a hoax, or the script copy was a VERY well done hoax, I'm gonna love X2.

I don't know if I'll be getting Xfactor #2...my comics are coming from a the crappy newstand at Hastings. I might make a trip to Fort Collins (an hour away) to get it, tho.

I'd buy all those Maquettes...but I don't have money...however, I will definitely be buying the Nightcrawler one...and probably the Shadowcat one.

I wanna see Day of Reckoning...I don't get that channel, and besides, I work 5:30 AM - 7:00 PM on Saturdays...if anyone has a nice fast connection and some way to get it, you could always upload it to bamf.us for all of us to enjoy. :-D

And what the heck is Heroclix?

That was a big complaint about the set. But with so many characters and fans it would be hard to please everyone.

Also I believe the creators were trying to give everyone a little of everything. A set devoted more to Avengers or X-Men would not sit well with others. Good call on the possible inclusion of Iceman and Angel in the Defenders. I forgot all about that. She-Hulk is also a good example a team swapper.

With so many characters to choose from the set is fairly well balanced. Some of the lesser popular characters who made the cut, are actually quite good in game play.

FOr me I would rather see a mix of popular and non-popular characters in each expansion. IF all the popular characters came out in the first couple of expansions, following expansions would not fair as well and Wizkids would be unable to continue the line. Which would cause the game to suffer in the long run. Hopefully NC will make it into the game by the 2nd or 3rd expansion. The first expansion comes out this October. The DC version of the game will be out in Aug or Sept I believe. Oh yeah Sentinals come out this June.

But the biggest factor in character choice came from the powers created. They wanted a good representation of characters who could match the powers they are using.

i know, im just whining. i hate Cyclops, tho i can see why they included him, and tho i used to like her, i dislike Rogue a lot.... Wolverine, well of course they included him, and professor X, no surprise there, same with Jean. but all i really wanted was a couple figures, i don't ever intend to actually play the game, i have no one to play with

and besides, what the X-Men team is lacking right now is raw strength, who better to provide that than Colossus? agility to go up agianst Spider-Man? well that should be obvious - Nightcrawler! and as mentioned, Archangel was in the Defenders. but i was mistaken, it was Beast yet again who was in it with him, not Iceman. Iceman was in the Champions with Angel. (and Hercules, Ghost Rider and Black Widow... that'd be a neat team)

but i did jsut notice that the FF don't have anyone in the team at all yet so i guess it's not SO bad...

Iceman was in the New Defenders too. It was Angel (pre-Archangel), Beast (and his puppy, Sassafrass, snicker), and Iceman. I remember because Bobby had the hots for Cloud, who eventually changed sexes. I can't believe they don't have the Surfer with the Defenders! And where's Submariner? Really, there's only four main, founding Defenders. Why not include them all.

I would say that'd be a good way to start is with the founding team members plus solo heroes and build expansions from there.

Imagine a roll playing game w/o all the reference charts and complicated game play and you get heroclix.

    http://wizkidsgames.com/heroclix/marvel/

From the makers of MageKnight. A simple and fun game of collectible minatures. follow the link for more info.

I had been previewing the release of the game on my site, but since no Nightcrawler made the initial run i Had taken the preview down. Hopefully he will make it into one of the future expansions.

i can't believe he wasn't included, i mean that just is not right... I know it is the marvel universe as a hole and not jsut X-Men, but you'd think they'd have all 5 of the originals, plus all of the genesis team at the very least. i mean they're founding members!

did anyone else important get left out? i am having a feeling that Archangel was left out... he's another greatly under-appreciated character (and another favourite of mine)

ok i jsut looked... they included WOLFSBANE and not Nightcrawler, Iceman, Beast, Archangel, Colossus or Storm...??? just not right... i mean it sounds fun i guess, but come on now...

... but Pyro's figure is neat... Quicksilver looks like he's having a spasm or dancing really badly tho.

they have a Defenders set, they could include both Iceman and Archangel in that one. as it is it jsut has Dr. Strange and the Hulk. and Beast could be in the Avengers too, i mean, who on earth decided who to include here? they left out some great characters that could play multiple teams. could you just picture an Excalibur team? that'd be sweet.

I'm not surprised that Nightcrawler wasn't in the first set. The could only include so many people to being with, plus each expansion is going to focus on a group (the first being Fantastic Four in the fall).

It's the general belief in the HC community that the X-Men set will be released in Spring 2003 to coincide with X2. I'm guessing that's when we'll get a Nightcrawler figure. I'm thinking Avengers will be the expansion in between (Jan 2003...40th anniversary and all). In the world of OverPower, Nightcrawler didn't show up until the 3rd set. You have to keep good characters back, or else no one will buy the stuff.

Here's what I hope they do with Beast (blue-furry version):
    Rookie : Avengers
    Experienced: Defenders
    Veteran: X-Men

And then have a Unique version of him in his classic X-Men costume with X-Men affiliation.

But even without Kurt, it's still a way fun game. Plus you don't have to spend time painting the little buggers.
